Is it prohibited to use a knife?

I have heard that there is a Ḥadīth in Sunan Abū Dawūd that prohibits the use of a knife to cut meat whilst eating. Please can you explain if it is permissible to use a knife to cut meat and the meaning of this Ḥadīth.

The following document analyses the various narrations regarding this and concludes that it is permissible to use a knife to cut cooked meat if there is a need to do so. However, one must refrain from using a knife and fork as cutlery.
