Istikhārah and dream regarding investing in stocks
Question
I am currently performing Istikhārah regarding investing in Shariah-compliant stocks. I have been hesitant about whether they are 100% halal and whether it is the right decision for me. Last night, I was reciting the following verse of the Quran in my dream:
وَأَنَّ ٱلْفَضْلَ بِيَدِ ٱللَّهِ
I would like to understand the meaning of this verse in the context of my situation. Could you please provide guidance on its interpretation and whether it holds any relevance to my Istikhārah?
بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم
Answer
If the investment is Shariah compliant and your heart is content with it, you may proceed. If, however, your heart is still not content with it, then you can avoid it, and Allah Almighty will provide an alternative.
قال ابن حجر في الفتح (١١/١٨٧): واختلف فيما ذا يفعل المستخير بعد الاستخارة، فقال ابن عبد السلام: يفعل ما اتفق، ويستدل له بقوله في بعض طرق حديث ابن مسعود في آخره: ثم يعزم، وأول الحديث: إذا أراد أحدكم أمرا فليقل. وقال النووي في الأذكار: يفعل بعد الاستخارة ما ينشرح به صدره، ويستدل له بحديث أنس عند ابن السني: إذا هممت بأمر فاستخر ربك سبعا، ثم انظر إلى الذي يسبق في قلبك فإن الخير فيه. وهذا لو ثبت لكان هو المعتمد، لكن سنده واه جدا. والمعتمد أنه لا يفعل ما ينشرح به صدره مما كان له فيه هوى قوي قبل الاستخارة، وإلى ذلك الإشارة بقوله في آخر حديث أبي سعيد: ولا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله، انتهى۔
