Ḥifẓ class in local Masjid queries
Question
(1) If a student is consistently failing in all areas, what is the ruling in Shariah with regards to removing that student from the Ḥifẓ programme?
(2) Similarly, if an institute is aware that a particular student is not capable of becoming a Ḥāfiẓ based on progress, feedback from teachers etc, what is the ruling on this? Is there an element of responsibility on the institute for allowing such individuals to still pursue Ḥifẓ?
بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم
Answer
(1) It is permissible to remove the student from the Ḥifẓ programme if they are not making progress, after exhausting all options.
(2) The institute should share its judgement with the learner and their parents. If they insist, then the institute should accommodate and allow them to try. Experience shows that when a person makes an effort, Allah Almighty makes it easy.
