Various shares in large Qurbānī animal
Question
If I was to do one large animal and distribute the shares as: 1 for me, 1 for my wife, 3 for our children, 1 for our Prophet ﷺ and 1 for deceased relatives, is this valid?

Answer
If the seven shares of Qurbānī are your Qurbānī shares, and your intention is merely to send the reward of some of the shares to the people mentioned, then this is valid.
Likewise, if the share for the wife and the three shares for the children are their Qurbānī shares, and the remaining two shares are your Qurbānī shares with the intention of sending their reward to the Prophet ﷺ and the deceased relatives, this is also valid. This is because these two Qurbānī shares are yours in reality.
If, however, your intention from the outset is that the final Qurbānī share belongs to the deceased relatives and it is their Qurbānī, then the Qurbānī will be invalid. This is because the Qurbānī of one share is only valid on behalf of one person.
قال قاضي خان في فتاويه (٣/٢٣٥): والإبل والبقر يجوز عن سبعة إذا أراد الكل القربة، اختلفت جهة القربة أو اتحدت، انتهى. وقال الولوالجي في فتاويه (٣/٧٤): رجل ضحى عن الميت جاز إجماعا، وهل يلزمه التصدق بالكل؟ تكلموا فيه، والمختار أنه لا يلزمه، لأن الأجر للميت والملك للمضحي، انتهى. وفي النوازل: سئل نصير عن رجل ضحى عن الميت ماذا يصنع به؟ قال: يأكل منه ويصنع به ما يصنع بأضحيته. فقيل له: أيصير عن الميت؟ فقال: الأجر له والملك لهذا، كذا في لسان الحكام (ص ٣٨٩). وقال ابن عابدين في رد المحتار (٦/٣٢٦): من ضحى عن الميت يصنع كما يصنع في أضحية نفسه من التصدق والأكل، والأجر للميت والملك للذابح، انتهى. وقال ظفر أحمد العثماني في إمداد الأحكام (٤/٢٣٣): اگر قربانی میں کوئی حصہ دار اپنا حصہ مردہ کی طرف سے کرنا چاہے تو اس کی صورت یہ ہوگی کہ وہ نیت تو اپنی طرف سے قربانی کی کرے اور ثواب مردہ کو بخش دے، اس صورت کے سوا دوسری صورتوں کی رعایت عوام سے دشوار ہے۔
