Tarāwīḥ Ṣalāh during lockdown
Question
In the current lockdown situation, would it be advised for the male members of the family who all live in separate homes to get together and perform Tarāwīḥ Ṣalāh in one house or should they perform in their own homes with their wives and where possible their children?

Answer
The current lockdown measures in the UK do not permit people from different homes to gather for Ṣalāh. This must be respected and families should perform Tarāwīḥ Ṣalāh in their own homes preferably in congregation with their spouses and children, otherwise individually. If they are self-isolating due to confirmed/suspected Covid-19, they will perform individually in their room. For further details, refer to our Covid-19 and guidelines for Ramadan and Eid.
قال السرخسي في المبسوط (٢/١٤٤): الفصل الثاني أنها تؤدى بجماعة أم فرادى: ذكر الطحاوي في اختلاف العلماء عن المعلى عن أبي يوسف رحمهما الله تعالى وذكر أيضا عن مالك رحمه الله تعالى أنهما قالا: إن أمكنه أداؤه في بيته صلى كما يصلي في المسجد من مراعاة سنة القراءة وأشباهه فيصلي في بيته، وقال الشافعي رحمه الله تعالى في قوله القديم: أداء التراويح على وجه الانفراد لما فيها من الإخفاء أفضل، وقال عيسى بن أبان وبكار بن قتيبة والمزني من أصحاب الشافعي وأحمد بن عمران رحمهم الله تعالى: الجماعة أحب وأفضل وهو المشهور عن عامة العلماء رحمهم الله تعالى وهو الأصح والأوثق، انتهى۔
