Fasting for pregnant woman

Question

I am in my early pregnancy. Have had a few miscarriages. Sickness is not very severe, however, if I do not eat or drink for more than three hours, then I have dizziness and nausea. Do I have to attempt the fast and break it if I struggle, or am I allowed not to start the fast and make up for it later?

Answer

A pregnant woman is not required to fast if she fears it will harm her or the child. Therefore, you are exempt from fasting and can make up for the missed fasts later.

If, however, you decide to fast and struggle, you can break the fast and make up for it later.

There is no other penalty in either scenario.
