Waterless CPAP Machine During Fasting
Question
I understand that the traditional CPAP (Continuous positive airway pressure) machine nullifies the fast due to the water. However, there is a CPAP machine which has a special waterless humidification process. The ResMed website states, “When you exhale, heat and moisture is captured and stored within the tiny paper ridges of the Heat and Moisture Exchange (HME). When you inhale, this heat and moisture is released to humidify the air you breathe in.” Would this nullify the fast?
بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم
Answer
A CPAP machine that has a waterless humidification process in the way described above does not nullify the fast. This is similar to wearing a medical mask or a neck gaiter (woollen face covering) or a tight helmet.
