Taaliah name for baby girl
Question
Is the name Taaliah suitable for a Muslim girl and if so, what is its meaning?

Answer
There are two possibilities with the spelling used. The first is Taaliah (Tāliyah – تالية), from Tilāwah, which would mean the reciter of the Quran. The preferred spelling of this is Taliyah or Taaliyah. The second is Taaliah (Ṭāliʿah – طالعة), which can mean the one who shines, the one who rises, the fortunate, the foremost. There is no harm with both these names from a meaning perspective, however it is better to choose a name from the names of female companions and pious predecessors.
عن أبي الدرداء رفعه: إنكم تدعون يوم القيامة بأسمائكم وأسماء آبائكم، فأحسنوا أسماءكم، رواه أبو داود (٤٩٤٨) وقال: ابن أبى زكريا لم يدرك أبا الدرداء، انتهى. وصححه ابن حبان (٥٨١٨) وحسن سنده ابن القيم في تحفة المودود (ص ١١١)، وذكر النووي في شرح المهذب (٨/٤٣٦) أن سنده جيد، وقال: والأشهر أنه سمع أبا الدرداء، انتهى. ولكن جزم البيهقي (١٩٣٠٨) أنه مرسل، ومشى عليه المنذري في الترغيب (٣/٤٨) وابن حجر في الفتح (١٠/٥٧٧) والعيني في عمدة القاري (٢٢/٢٠١)۔
