Stopping menstrual bleeding via contraceptive pills due to endometriosis
Question
I have an illness called endometriosis stage four. I had a surgery in September 2024 where they removed nearly all the endometriosis as much as they could but some still remain as it was tricky for them to do so, so they just shaved it of leaving most of it still inside of me. Just recently I met my doctor. He advised me that I will have to completely stop my period (menstrual cycle) in order for my endometriosis to not come back or get worse. To stop this, he told me that he will give me contraceptive pills which I will have to take now all my life or otherwise this might return. My question is that is stopping the period allowed in Islam or is it sinful? If it is sinful, what should I do next?
بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم
Answer
It is permissible for you to take the contraceptive pills based on your circumstance and you will not be sinful. May Allah Almighty grant you ʿĀfiyah.
