Joining in Eid Ṣalāh on second day with intention of Nafl
Question
I performed Eid Ṣalāh yesterday. Due to differences in moonsighting, there is another Eid Ṣalāh at my local Masjid today. Can I partake in this with the intention of Nafl Ṣalāh?

Answer
If you are already in the Masjid, you can partake in the Ṣalāh with the intention of Nafl. However, it should not be because you doubt the validity of the Eid Ṣalāh you have already performed, which is why if you are not in the Masjid, you should perform Nafl Ṣalāh at home.
قال التمرتاشي في تنوير الأبصار: ومتنفل بمفترض في غير التراويح، كذا في الدر المختار (١/٥٩٠). وقال السرخسي في المبسوط (١/١٣٦): إحداها اقتداء المتنفل بالمفترض فهو جائز بالاتفاق لقوله صلى الله عليه وسلم: سيكون أمراء بعدي يؤخرون الصلاة عن مواقيتها فإذا فعلوا فصلوا أنتم في بيوتكم ثم صلوا معهم واجعلوا صلاتكم معهم سبحة، أي نافلة، ولأن المقتدي بنى صلاته على صلاة إمامه، كما أن المنفرد يبني آخر صلاته على أول صلاته، وبناء النفل على تحريمة انعقدت للفرض يجوز، وكذلك اقتداء المتنفل بالمفترض، انتهى. وراجع صحيح مسلم (٥٣٤ و ٦٤٨)۔
