Is the Zakat anniversary based on Ṣubḥ Ṣādiq?
Question
Is the Zakat anniversary based on Ṣubḥ Ṣādiq (dawn) or is it based on the exact time of the day wherein the person first acquired Niṣāb? This could make a difference if someone is spending or receiving Zakatable assets at 9am for example on his Zakat anniversary.

Answer
We have not come across this explicitly in the books. However, Ṣubḥ Ṣādiq (dawn) is advised and one should be consistent with this. The majority of people would not remember the exact time of the day when they first acquired Niṣāb.
قال محمد في الأصل (٥/٤١٢) في مسائل الأضحية: لا يجزيه أن يذبح إلا بعدما ينشق الفجر، لأن ذلك لا يجب عليه حتى ينشق الفجر. وقال (٢/١٧٧) في مسائل صدقة الفطر: قلت: أرأيت الرجل يموت مماليكه يوم الفطر أيؤدي عنهم صدقة الفطر؟ قال: نعم، إذا انشق الفجر يوم الفطر فإنه يؤدي عنهم، ماتوا أو عاشوا سواء في القياس، وبه نأخذ. قلت: أرأيت الرجل يمر يوم الفطر وأولاده صغار ثم يموت بعضهم قبل أن يؤدي عنهم؟ قال: يؤدي عنه أبوه. قلت: أرأيت الرجل يموت عبده ليلة الفطر هل عليه صدقة الفطر؟ قال: لا لأنه لم يصبح يوم الفطر حيا. وقال (٢/١٧٩): قلت: أرأيت رجلا أسلم بعد طلوع الفجر يوم الفطر أتجب عليه صدقة الفطر؟ قال: لا. قلت: فإن أسلم ليلة الفطر هل عليه صدقة الفطر؟ قال: نعم، انتهى۔
