Inheritance query in the event of death
Question
I was married and then divorced. I have a daughter from this marriage who is currently 11 years old. I married again and have a son aged three years from this marriage. I recently purchased a property and we agreed it is owned 50% by my wife and 50% by me. She also works and wants to pay half for everything. My question is that how would the inheritance be divided from my 50% which I own outright? I also own some shares, and also cash approximately £4,000 and also pension which is not due yet. So, how would the inheritance be distributed among my daughter, my son and my wife?

Answer
If you pass away and leave behind a wife, a daughter and a son, the inheritance will be distributed as follows:
Wife: 3/24th (12.5%)
Son: 14/24th (58.33%)
Daughter: 7/24th (29.17%)
This assumes that you are married when you pass away, and your wife and both children are alive. It also assumes that neither of your parents are alive when you pass away and also that you have no more children.
