Micropigmentation to deal with severe Alopecia
I have an illness called Alopecia which is very common but mine is quite a severe one known as Alopecia Totalis, it causes complete baldness of the scalp and is most likely permanent. It affects hair loss from the entire face and scalp with all my hair gone including from my beard and eye brows.
I note your Fatwa https://islamicportal.co.uk/scalp-micro-pigmentation-and-hair-transplantation/. However, as my hair follicles are affected, hair transplant would not work notwithstanding its side effects. Micropigmentation is the safest and most reliable option for my illness. In light of this, would Micropigmentation be allowed for me? This is really affecting my mental health and confidence.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم
The default position in relation to micropigmentation is that it is not permitted. However, in light of your severe circumstances, if you decide to use micropigmentation, you will be excused if there is no other alternative. You should consult a Muslim doctor and explore the alternative options first. You must also ensure that the pigments do not contain any impurities.
