Al-Ḥamdulillāh, the Leicester based Qurtuba Books founded and managed by Mawlānā Muḥammad Ṭalḥah ibn Mawlānā Ibrāhīm Iqbāl Ṣāḥib has recently published 12 Countries in the Company of Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani.

This brief article provides an overview of the book, first by sharing what is published on the back page and thereafter outlining the contents of the book.

Back Page

The content published on the back page is as follows:

12 Countries in the company of Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani features a captivating collection of travelogues and articles, providing a first-hand insight into the journeys of one of the world’s most influential scholars to Albania, Bosnia, Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, Macedonia, Malta, Montenegro, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom and Uzbekistan, and shedding light on various historical events, the failed assassination attempt, the responsibilities of scholars in the west, and a range of jurisprudential and spiritual discourses. These journeys were undertaken between 2018 and 2021 and form part of the 84 countries Shaykh al-Islam Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani has visited to date.

Dr Mufti Yusuf Shabbir is a British scholar who memorised the Quran at a young age and graduated from Darul Uloom Bury in 2005. He also graduated in Law from the University of Manchester and has a master’s degree in Management as well as a PgDip in Islamic Finance. He is a chartered member of the CIPD and recently completed his PhD in Hadith studies. He has extensive experience of the third and education sectors and has travelled to 50 countries. He teaches the Islamic sciences at Jamiatul Ilm Wal Huda, Blackburn and has authored many books in Arabic and English. His articles and Fatwas are available on www.islamicportal.co.uk.

Allah Almighty has given him great ability to work with extraordinary speed and diligence. MashaAllah, he has a passion for knowledge and he reaches for books at once and writes quickly. In Bosnia and Uzbekistan, he would write a daily account at night, whilst we would be extremely tired, and he would do so with the references. – Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani

“He is now doing an additional favour on the people of knowledge by publishing these articles in the form of a book. Hadrat Shaykh al-Islam treats him with special affection and love, which made it easier for him to benefit from Shaykh al-Islam by posing questions.” – Mufti Ahmad Khanpuri
