Zakat and US Tax Deductions
Question
In the USA, we are allowed to reduce our tax via expenses which include donations. For example, if I owe $10 in taxes and I donate $2, I would have to pay $8 to the government. Can I use the $2 donation to discharge my Zakat?

You can use the $2 donation to discharge your Zakat, this is your money.
