Transferring Zakat into poor person’s bank account
Question
If a poor person is in another country and you transfer Zakat into their bank account, is this valid? They may not withdraw the money, but use it for their bills or to purchase something.

Answer
Transferring Zakat money into a poor person’s bank account is valid. This is because when he receives the money in his account, he becomes the owner.
قال السمرقندي في تحفة الفقهاء (١/٣٠٥): وأما ركن الزكاة فهو إخراج جزء من النصاب من حيث المعنى إلى الله تعالى والتسليم إليه وقطع يده عنه بالتمليك من الفقير والتسليم إليه أو إلى من هو نائب عنه وهو الساعي، انتهى۔
