Sending children to Catholic Schools

Question

My question is regarding sending our child to a Catholic primary school. They have mass once a term and say daily prayers in morning lunch and at the end of school. Should we be wary of sending them to a Catholic School? They teach all religions but their ethos is Catholic, or is it better to send to a secular school?

Answer

The education system in the UK allows for the establishment of faith schools including Muslim schools. It is therefore vital that this provision is used and Muslim schools are established. Alternatively, home schooling should be considered.

If this is not possible, the least severe option should be chosen. This will vary according to each school. The law also permits parents to withdraw from collective worship, so this right must be exercised as necessary. In addition, all necessary steps should be undertaken to safeguard the faith and beliefs of children.
